Summary: This property is a real find. It's located on a busy but not impossible street, set up and back from the street. A lush side garden provides access to the three or four apartments and spots to relax, with a partial view of San Francisco Bay and Alcatraz Island. It's a mere half-block to the most iconic Cable Car run down Hyde Street, and only two or three blocks from Buena Vista Cafe, Aquatic Park, and Fisherman's Wharf. A ten-to-fifteen minute walk in the other direction brings you into the heart of North Beach. It's a glorious part of the city to be in. Apartment B consists of a small kitchen, a very large living and dining room, two steps down, and a quite large bedroom. The bathroom, which is off the bedroom, is small, but well outfitted with up-to-date plumbing fixtures. The shower was especially satisfying to use. The main rooms are quite beautiful. The owner/landlord Jeff is a delight to deal with--warmly generous, thoughtful and immediately responsive to questions and concerns. One of the things I particularly appreciated is that he had prepared all the paperwork I needed to present to the City (along with a not-insignificant fee) for a neighborhood parking permit. If you've never had to deal with SF's parking regulations, be advised: it's difficult not to slip up on occasion and end up with a hefty fine. On a related matter: this is a good location from which to use MUNI, the public transportation system. I definitely plan on staying here again.
