Enchanting Cedar Shack | House in Rye
2 Bedroom House in Rye
Steps from the ocean, this enchanting home is located directly opposite the foreshore national park and a short drive to the best surf break in the area, known to locals as Hayfields. A short walk will take you to Dimmicks Beach and along the most scenic coastal walk towards Bridgewater and Dimond Bays
This western red cedar shack sits amidst a forest of local moonah trees and seaside flora with a backdrop of breaking waves.
Soaring architectural lines define the chalet style home. Features include; double height open living with Tasmanian oak flooring, high dormer windows, built in shelving with stained-glass accents, while upstairs a mezzanine level provides a second living space with views into the trees.
Teeming with charm, a timber kitchen includes all analogue appliances, this form of slow living accommodation is suited to those seeking an escape from day-to-day hustle. The shack is about less grinding and more grounding.
Here we live in first principles from washing dishes the old-fashioned way, allowing the kettle to boil on the gas hob while before it announces itself with a whistle reminiscent of the sounds of Ohm!
Kitchen Breakfast bar and glass panel cabinetry are quintessential as are the two sets of French doors that open to a wraparound veranda overlooking coastal gardens.
This is the most unique stay, be ready to shift and be transformed.
The Cottage is a 10-minute walk to the most majestically rugged beach No.16 which can be accessed by walking (east) along the national park trial. As you exit the cottage turn left and cross the road to access the walking trail in the National park walk along the main path till you reach a dirt car access to the beach, turn right to get to the beach entrance and simply get lost in the magic of this hidden paradise.
As you leave the beach make sure to walk to 16th Beach general store located on Tasman drive directly opposite 16th Beach driveway . This is the highest vibe general store on the Peninsula, full of organic produce and locally sourced goods. Frank the owner is also serving the best coffee you can find. If you are early enough you can purchase a loaf from Tuerong farm that grows, mills and bakes their own bread, do yourself a favour and take a loaf home with some organic local butter, to enjoy on the veranda back you’re welcome !
Blairgowrie shops are a 5-minute drive as are the Alba and Peninsula Hot Springs.
So many local Golf courses to discover and the super cool Trueman’s Golf Range 357 Truemans Rd Boneo) serving alfresco beer and woodfired pizza, located a 10 minute drive from the cottage .
One of the best Walking trails is directly from the front door to Dimmicks Beach and then follow the beach trail to Bridgewater Bay or if you are a keen hiker take it all the way to Diamond Bay.
Take a walk along the national Park in the opposite direction to 16th beach, there are many little trails but if you follow the main track you will arrive at Dimocks beach and discover the beauty of these walking trails , feel free to take a magical walk all the way to Bridgewater Bay Blairgowrie…
