Set on five+ acres of lush lakefront land, Beachside on Blueberry provides all the ingredients for a perfect Lake Superior vacation. The cabin features a new kitchen, fireplace, floor-to-ceiling windows looking out to the lake, screen porch, wrap-around deck, and of course a stunning & private beach!
Note: this cabin is NOT winterized, which means there is no central source of heat. The cabin is rented only through the fall. Nights can get chilly even in September, so be aware that the cabin is heated via the wood fireplace and/or space heaters in each bedroom. Also: the beach that's steps away from the cabin is part of a stretch of beach that is available for use by all residents of the lane on which the cabin resides. Most of the time you'll be there by yourself, but neighboring residents can access it as well (usually walking through as they stroll the long stretch of sand along this part of Siskiwit Bay).

Your host runs Bark Point Ventures, a vacation rental management & concierge company that specializes in properties on Lake Superior's South Shore. The South Shore
The south shore is truly a place to get away from it all, but not so far from modern conveniences that getting food and gas feel like a chore. The guest book contains tips on all the incredible outdoor activities, local arts, and places to get groceries, dine out, grab a drink, etc. This is truly a year-round destination, whether you enjoy outdoor activities, local cuisine, art, or simply the company of friends & family in one of the most beautiful locations in the northern U.S.
The Area
The home is just a few minutes from the center of Cornucopia, which has a delightful general store/market, awesome coffee shop, bar/restaurant, and marina. Bayfield is about 35 minutes away, as is Washburn (where the largest grocery store is in the area). Ashland is about 45 minutes away (which has a natural foods co-op, Wal-Mart, and wider range of shops). Superior & Duluth are an hour and a bit away.
Property Details
The cabin is nestled in the pines, giving a year-round sense of privacy. Even before you enter the cabin, you’ll be wowed by the “ship’s prow” design of the front of the cabin, which is composed of floor-to-ceiling windows to best take advantage of the lake vistas. The cabin’s exterior includes a deck wrapping around two sides, and a spacious screen porch with views out towards the lake.
The interior of the cabin is compact, but thanks to the open plan living-dining-kitchen great room, doesn’t feel tiny. You’ll find a full-size stove, microwave, fridge, and well-outfitted kitchen. For chilly fall days & nights, the wood-burning fireplace adjacent to the kitchen will add warmth & ambiance. The living/dining area makes the most of the huge windows, so that you can lounge and eat with those incredible views as your companion.
The two bedrooms are compact, one with a queen bed and the second with a trundle bed that pulls out to two twins. The bathroom has a subway tiled walk-in shower with rainshower head.
The screen porch offers a respite from any pesky insects, making it the perfect hang out spot for reading, dining, games, and other rainy day activities.
The huge cherry on the top of this lakeside sundae is of course the cabin’s beach. You’ll walk a short trail through the beach grasses and find yourself on a beautiful stretch of beach that faces Siskiwit Bay. Folks call the South Shore the “Riviera of Lake Superior” due to its white sandy beaches. Beachside does not disappoint in this regard. You’ll likely want to set up the cabana tent, unfold your lounge chair, and never leave! Note: the beach that's steps away from the cabin is part of a stretch of beach that is available for use by all residents of the lane on which the cabin resides. Transit Info
Due to the lack of public transportation and the distance between towns/amenities, a car is pretty much essential. But, on the plus side, traffic is not a concept we have up here!
