Once part of the old Furley Estate, Goodmans House sits on a sloping westerly hillside, offering breathtaking views across the country that stretch into two neighbouring counties. The grounds are full of quiet charm—open fields, winding paths through wooded areas, and two large ponds that mirror the sky and attract birds and wildlife. Near the Duck Pond, a fire pit and picnic table create the perfect spot for an outdoor meal or an evening under the stars.
One of the highlights of the grounds is the Walled Garden with the Orangery. Light-filled and tastefully furnished, it’s a wonderful space to enjoy a drink, read a book, or share a moment with friends. Benches and gazebos are dotted throughout the gardens, each offering its own special view or a quiet corner to relax. Though the setting is wonderfully quiet and secluded, you’re only five miles from Axminster and Chard with their independent shops and eateries, and just eleven miles from the dramatic Jurassic Coast at Lyme Regis—where clifftop walks, fossil hunting, and sea air await.
