Manistee is appropriately known as the Victorian Port City and this elegant Victorian home in the heart of Manistee is part of that rich history. The home was originally built for Robert R. and Harriet (Hattie) Blacker in 1892. Robert Blacker was a successful businessman in shingle production, lumber, railroads, banking, drugs, steamships and water works in the late 1800's. He also served in several political offices to include state legislature, Mayor of Manistee, and Secretary of State.
The home has had several updates, with the recent additions of all stainless-steel appliances, new lighting and new kitchen island. Many of the original hardwood floors have been refinished and the entire 4700 sqft. home has been refreshed. You'll truly appreciate all the work that has been done to modernize the home while keeping that Victorian charm. Much of the furniture has been purchased new in 2016 and 2017.
AMENITIES INCLUDE: air conditioning, dishwasher, fire pit, laundry, ping pong table, board games, and gas fireplace. WIFI, and smart TV access included.
The kitchen is fully stocked for everyday meal prep. Dishes, pots and pans, silverware, glass, etc. dishwasher, and a drip coffee maker is available for guest use. Additional kitchen items include ice maker, 2 refrigerators, and toaster. Also included: bed linens, fans, bath towels, basic cleaning supplies, and soaps (not personal soaps), and a starter set of paper products
The rental is pet-friendly! Feel free to bring your furry friend, the yard is completely fenced in. We simply ask that you include your pet when booking. There is an additional $15/night pet fee which will be added to the stay.
LOCATION: Come and stay in one of Manistee's most historic homes. This home is conveniently located in the heart of Manistee. Only one mile to Lake Michigan and about a 5-minute walk to downtown shopping, restaurants, festivals, and everything Manistee has to offer. Take your pick, you are near it all! You are only 13 miles from Little River Casino, 10 miles from Douglas Valley Winery, and only a few minutes to the Manistee Golf and Country Club!
Check in time is after 4:00PM and check out time is before 10:00AM. Please note that we are not able to accommodate early arrivals or late departures from May – September. Any request for additional time will depend on availability of the rental and an additional fee may be added to the stay.
ARRIVAL: There is no formal check-in procedure. Arrival details are sent prior to your check-in date and will include the exact location of the property, parking and entry information. Guests will have a private, secure entrance and the rental is not shared by owners or other guests.
DEPARTURE: We do have a very short checklist we ask renters follow upon departure. It includes making sure the property is left tidy, furniture is in the same place you found it, everything is closed, locked and turned off, and the thermostat is set properly. These items will only take a couple of minutes but help staff immensely.
Please know that all rental policies and house rules are strictly enforced. This includes occupancy limits, age requirements, the ‘no parties’ and ‘no smoking’ clauses or any other rule posted online or within the rental. These are often defined by local ordinances, Homeowner’s Associations or other legal requirements and can result in fines or eviction if violated. We do not provide additional refunds for cancellations, late arrivals or early departures except as required in the posted cancellation policy.
