Summary: 3 star property at best, The grounds are in okay condition. It feels very historic, but not very well maintained, with dust and cobwebs in many spots. Service is quite inconsistent - some people were very friendly, while others seemed as if they were still in training. Beds were poorly made and there was a tear in the skirt, which is not normal for a 5 star hotel. I would definitely NOT call this a spa hotel - the spa service was absolutely lacking, the “retreat” was disappointing (and cost extra!) and the pool chairs are cheap and uncomfortable with cushions that make you slide right off - very strange place for a hotel to go skimp, especially when the pool is so heavily featured in all marketing.
