Torrington is situated on a hill top with 360° countryside views surrounding it and steep drops to the valley below and the River Torridge. This breathtaking scenery has remained practically unchanged since the classic novel ’Tarka the Otter’ was written in the 1920s by Henry Williamson. This historic terraced house, thought to be the oldest in the town, dates from around 1590, and offers a beautiful retreat for family and friends who are looking for a truly unique escape. With limewash painted walls, this spacious property retains many original features whilst offering all modern comforts. The large kitchen/dining room, with its huge oak table, is the ideal place to host a celebration meal, and the living room has a cosy open fire to curl up beside with a good book and a glass of wine. Towards the end of the 12th century, 365 acres of land surrounding the town on all but the eastern side was given to the people of Great Torrington.
