For the adrenaline seekers, have a go at sailing, canoeing, windsurfing, golf, mini golf, cycling and rock climbing, or for the more sedate, there are many walks, great places for fishing, or spotting the local birds from the bird watching centre. Hambleton Bakery is close by and definitely worth a visit, as in Barnsdale Gardens which is just beautiful. The market towns of Oakham, Uppingham and Stamford are close by and they all have a range of shops, pubs, tea rooms and restaurants. There is so much more to discover with lots of castles and stately homes in the area, including Burghley House, which is famous for its international horse trials, 14 miles away. Belton House 16 miles, Belvoir Castle 20 miles, Rockingham Castle 18 miles, Grimsthorpe Castle 15 miles and Elton Hall 20 miles all within driving distance.
